Swim Across the Sound

Staples Swimming & Diving is sponsoring a ‘Swim Across the Sound” team. They are swimming in honor of Coach Jeffrey Schare’s mother, Eve Schare (July 4, 1942 – April 4, 2002). who died from cancer. The team of Cory Bacon, Kyle Bacon, Steven Siecienski, and Mathew Wisher will complete a 25 kilometer (15.5 mile) swimathon to raise money for St.Vincents cancer education, screening, and prevention programs. Staples Swimming & Diving families are welcome and encouraged to come down to Captain’s Cove Seaport, located at One Bostwick Avenue in the historic Black Rock section of Bridgeport, to enjoy the festivities and cheer the swimmers on as they cross the finish line. The maritime amusement center will be alive all afternoon and evening with music, entertainment, vendor booths, and the boardwalk shops and restaurant will be open, too. Spectators can catch the action on August 7th from 2:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Please help turn the tide against cancer.
