Congratulations on great season!

Staples placed fifth out of twenty teams at the CIAC class LL Championships, and ninth out of fifty-two (ninety-five total) swimming and diving teams at the CIAC Open. Complete results can be found at http://www.casciac.org/bswim.shtml. Congratulations to everyone!

Also, congratulations to the following:

Zachary Slater, Cory Bacon, and Nathaniel Boley have been named to the Norwalk Hour All-AreaTeam.

Cory Bacon and Nathaniel Boley have been named to the Connecticut Post All-Star Team.

Coach Jeff Schare has been recognized as the boys swimming Coach of the Year.

Staples finishes 6th at the FCIAC Championships with 214 points.
200 Medley Relay:  (Wisher, Abel, Feder, Boley) 4th *All-FCIAC 2nd team
200 Freestyle: Jonathan Blansfield 16th
200 IM: Joss Abel 13th
50 Freestyle: Cory Bacon 8th; Scott Feder 16th
Diving: Zachary Slater 5th *All-FCIAC 2nd team; Tanner Blank 12th
100 Butterfly: Mathew Wisher 9th; Scott Feder 13th
100 Freestyle: Nathanield Boley 2nd * All-FCIAC 1st team; Cory Bacon 11th; Kyle Bacon 15th
500 Freestyle: Jonathan Blansfield 9th
200 Freestyle Relay: (K. Bacon, Mathew Wetmore, Feder, C. Bacon) 6th; (Avery Watterworth, Kevin Xiang, Blansfield, David Katter) 13th overall fastest time
100 Backstroke: Nathanial Boley Champion *All-FCIAC 1st team and new Staples School Record; Mathew Wisher 6th *All-FCIAC 2nd team; Michael Goodgame 14th.
100 Breaststroke: Joss Abel 10th; Christopher Mombello 13th
400 Freestyle Relay: (C. Bacon, Wisher, K. Bacon, Boley) 5th; (Blansfield, Marcus Russi, Goodgame, Abel) 8th overall fastest time
We had 46 season best times at the trials meet. With 28 swimmers competing, that is seriously impressive!  To top it off, we had 25 additional best times at the finals.  Congratualations to all.

The Fairfield meet will be held tomorrow (Wed., Feb. 2) at Staples if the schools are open and afternoon activities are not canceled.

A special Saturday practice has been added for Feb. 5, 7:45-10:15 am.

The Wilton meet has been re-scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 8, in Wilton.

Friday food update

Sandwiches will not be supplied for Friday’ s meet in Greenwich; instead they will be ordered for the re-scheduled Wilton meet (date TBD). Please eat a healthy meal before arriving at school Friday at 1:45 pm. The bus departs at 2 pm.
